Celebrate NAHSL’s 60th Anniversary and Your Accomplishments at the 2018 NAHSL Annual Meeting

Over the past sixty years, NAHSL members have demonstrated an ability to adapt, innovate, and succeed in a rapidly-changing environment. At this year’s meeting, we encourage you to share examples of how you have remained strong in a changing environment. We’d like to hear about your accomplishments, your innovations, and times when you gained strength in the face of adversity, such as when a project did not go quite as planned.

The NAHSL 2018 Program Planning Committee invites you to submit a proposal for one of the following formats:

* Contributed papers (12-15 minutes; eligible to submit conference proceedings)
* Lightning talks (5-7 minutes; eligible to submit conference proceedings)
* Poster (at least one author must be present at the poster during the 1-hour poster session)
* NEW: Innovation pitches! Pitch an innovative idea to your colleagues and get feedback on it during a breakout session. What qualifies as an innovative idea? Maybe you can describe a new program you’d like to implement at your institution. Maybe you’d like to workshop a new teaching strategy. The sky is the limit! (15 minutes)

Please prepare an abstract of no more than 250 words that describes your proposed presentation. Your abstract should be structured to include the following components:

* Background/Introduction (What prompted you to do this project?)
* Objectives (What did you hope to accomplish?)
* Description of Program/Project (What did you do?)
* Results/Reflections (What was the outcome? What were the best practices or lessons learned?)
* Conclusion (What did you learn? How has this made you or your library stronger?)

Proposal submissions are CLOSED. Two blinded committee members will review each proposal based on the following criteria and notify you of their decision by September 17.

* Relevance to a broad audience (i.e. hospital librarians, academic librarians)
* Potential for reproducibility
* Thoughtfulness of proposal (i.e. Is your proposal well organized? Is it free of spelling and grammatical errors?)


NEW! For the first time ever, presenters will have the opportunity to publish conference proceedings. Conference proceedings will allow presenters to elaborate on their presentations and share their ideas with a broader audience. Conference proceedings will be hosted in the UMASS Medical School library repository. Conference proceedings guidelines can be found here.
